WINTER CELEBRATION OF NOMADS WILL BE HELD
In the beginning of March, The Winter Celebration of Nomads, the serial ceremonies that attract domestic and foreign tourists, will be held in Mongolia. The celebration is organized by The Mongolian Tourism Association and it includes the "Ice Festival", "Eagle Festival" and "Camel Festival".
"Ice Festival" which will be celebrated as "Blue Pearl Nation" this year, will be held during the 1st to 4th of March in Khatgal sum of Khuvsgul aimag. Khatgal village is located lake shore of Khuvsgul Lake. On the ice, knucklebone competitions, 50 km ice skating race, ice tug of war, ice wrestling and reindeer racing etc will be organized as well as "Singers of Taiga" cultural performance and Shaman ritual for Khuvsgul Lake will be held. Also, the best foreigner in a Mongolian Deel will be selected and tourists will havethe opportunity to visit local reindeer herders' tents and experience their culture and customs.
On the 5th of March, the "Eagle Festival" will be organized in "Chinggis Khuree" tourist camp by the Governor's Office of BayanUlgii aimag and Mongolian Eagle hunters' Association. Foreign embassies, diplomatic offices in Mongolia, international organizations and mining companies will be part of the audience. "The Eagle Festival 2013" will be opened by the eagle parade and followed by a Kazakh handicrafts' exhibition. As a tradition, the best eagle hunter who is dressed in proper national outfit, eagle and horse decorations will be selected as well. Eagle hunting performance will be organized and the King Eagle award will be given.
The "Camel Festival" will be organized on 6th and 7th of March in Bulgan sum of Umnugovi aimag. The party will be opened by a Camel Parade and the whole day will be about camels. Couple's Racing on Camels, Camel Polo, "Camel is my friend" themed painting and poem competitions and camel racing will be organized. Local handicrafts, camel milk and dairy products exhibits will be presented. The party will be concluded as visitors view four to five thousand years old cave paintings of "Khavtsgait rock" which is located in "Bogino Khyar" of Gurvan Saikhan (Three Gorgeous) Mountain", located 28 kms of Bulgan sum.
